Scorpion Protective Coatings

Scorpion's In Spring Time
Just a friendly reminder that March 20th was the first official day of spring. Here in Indiana temperatures are already warming up!
Remember that spring and summer spraying is different than winter spraying. Keep your XO2 at moderate temperatures and for those in high humidity environments, it never hurts to refrigerate your 8001 primer. The warmer it is, the faster XO2 sets up, so please be alert (especially for those who use Scorpion Accelerator).
Here at our spray shop in Cloverdale, IN we have already seen a dramatic uptick in spray requests so far in March and we hope that everyone in the Scorpion family across the world has seen the same!

International Profile: INVICT (Colima, Mexico)

Scorpion would like to welcome Héctor Alejandro Navarro Moctezuma and his father to the Scorpion family! INVICT (short for “Industrias Victoria”) produces metallic structures, tools, hoppers, tractor accessories and custom made metallic parts in the city of Colima on the southwest coast of Mexico.
Colima is very close to the port of Manzanillo, it is an important region for the production of citrus, tropical fruits and food processing. The whole region is famous for its humidity and due to the fact that Colima is so close to the coast corrosion issues are shown to be present in vehicles, metallic structures, boats, etc. The company is 40 years old and they are very well known throughout the region. They manufacture all the metallic components and structures and they are currently working on the production of a rice mill that will take a year to build.

Application Oddities Winner

Scorpion would like to congratulate Chris Butano of Chris Auffenberg Chevrolet (Kirkwood, MO). Winner of this month’s Application Oddities and a $100 credit towards their Scorpion account. One of the more interesting pictures we have received in a while, Chris sprayed a camouflage Port-O-Pot!

Product Profile: Flattener

Here at Scorpion we work very hard to constantly maintain (and improve) the U. V. stability of all of our coatings. It is one (of the many) properties that separates the men from the boys (or girls from women for our female readers) when it comes to the world of polyurethane coatings. Shine is usually associated with U.V. stability and Scorpion shine and color retention is unsurpassed in the world of thick film polyurethanes. In some applications (or for some tastes) the Scorpion shine is too much and we are asked if we can do anything to reduce this shine without reducing the U.V. stability. The answer is yes, use Scorpion Flattener.
Scorpion Flattener was actually first created for use by the National Guard and Coast Guard to reduce the shine on their sprayed vehicles so that they would be less likely to be spotted. Scorpion Flattener is an inexpensive additive that is added directly to the XO2 mix in varying amounts to reduce the shine all the way down to a flat, matte finish. We see Scorpion Flattener used in camouflage applications, on boat decks, interior applications and custom projects where the customer requests a matte finish (popular on the west coast).

Dealer Profile: Santa Paula Chevrolet
(Santa Paula, CA)

Santa Paula Chevrolet has been a Scorpion dealer since late 2005. By their count, they sold over $74,000 in Scorpion related projects last year.
The following is a statement submitted by William S. Edwards, Service Director at Santa Paula Chevrolet:

“I believe that your product is far superior to anything out on the market in Southern California. We see people all the time with our Scorpion sprayed in liner come in for service and the liner still holds its color and resilience after many years. The line-X and Rhino liners turn a chalky type grey that fades and looks old after about 6 months. The Scorpion product gives us the ability to spray in color coded liners, which is very popular and now we offer the metal flake liner which we hope will become popular as well. We also spray in liners for other dealerships in our area. Our vehicle sales and reputation continue to grow in our area because we sell a world class product (Chevrolet) and we perform and deliver superior service on everything we work on. We believe that our alliance with Scorpion fits the level of excellence that our customers have come to expect, because Scorpion is the most versatile and best product on the market. We are very proud to tell all of our customers about the quality of the Scorpion product. We like to say, When you apply a Scorpion liner into a new Chevrolet pickup, It just can't get any better than that!”

Thank you for seeing us at the show!
Scorpion would like to thank everyone who came out to see us at the NATM, NTEA, and Dr. Vinyl Shows. We appreciate all your support and please stay tuned to www.ScorpionCoatings.com to see when we will be at a show near you!
