4 Easy Step Application Process
Spraying a high-performance, custom bed liner starts with application. Scorpion is applied using a 4 step process that is quick and easy. One of the misconceptions about spraying truck bed liners is that they are difficult to apply. Nearly all of our bed liner applicators have been trained by simply watching our training DVD and spray a perfect bed liner the first time. The process is that simple and you will achieve professional results in just a couple of hours.
Step 1: Prep
This is one of the most important steps in applying a Scorpion Truck Bed Liner. How well the bed is prepped depends on the overall performance and quality of the bed liner.
Protect
Scorpion begins by protecting the vehicle from possible overspray. This is achieved by simply applying plastic or paper over all areas you want protected from overspray with automotive grade masking tape. This is the first step in the process. The next step is prepping the truck for application.
Sanding
Sanding the bed is the first step in preparation. Scorpion applicators use a nylon bristle cup brush that will quickly scuff the truck bed’s clear coat. You only need to scuff the surface until you can feel the scratches. Hand sanding along the tape lines is recommended.
Cleaning
A clean bed means a great bond. Our applicators use Scorpion Prime Bond Cleaner. Simply spray it on and wipe clean. This removes any dust and debris from the bed.
Step 2: Apply Adhesion Promoter
Once the bed has been sanded and cleaned, Scorpion 8001 Adhesion Promoter is applied. Apply a light mist coat over the entire spray area and let sit for 15-20 minutes. This will give you plenty of time to mix and spray Scorpion.
Step 3: Mixing
Scorpion is a 4 component mix. Simply pour the components together in one of the supplied mixing containers and mix with the supplied paddle with a high speed drill. Mix until the color is uniform. You are ready to spray.
Step 4: Spraying
Spraying Scorpion is simple. Connect your gun to your air compressor. Fill up the hopper with the mixed material. Set the pressure to the suggested amount and slowly pull back on the trigger. In just a few minutes you will have sprayed a perfect truck bed liner that your customer will love. After you are finished simply remove the paper or plastic protection.
